Bridal makeup artist contract template

Booking terms written for UK bridal and occasion makeup artists: booking fee, balance, cancellations, party changes, timings, travel, allergies, photos and liability. Add your details and download it as Word or PDF.

A template, not legal advice. It is a starting point written in plain English for UK artists. Read it carefully, change anything that does not match how you work, and consider having a solicitor or your trade body check it before you rely on it.

Questions

Is this template legal advice?

No. It is a practical starting point written for UK bridal and occasion makeup artists, not legal advice, and it may not suit every business. Read it carefully, change anything that does not match how you work, and consider asking a solicitor or your trade body to check it before you rely on it.

Can I call my deposit non-refundable?

You can call it a booking fee and say it is normally kept if the client cancels, but under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 it still has to be fair: it should reflect the real cost to you of holding the date, not act as a penalty. The template uses that approach, and explains the 14-day cancellation right that usually applies when a booking is made by email, DM or phone.

What is the 14-day cancellation right?

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, a client who books at a distance (online, by email, Instagram, WhatsApp or phone) or away from your premises usually has 14 days to cancel and get their money back. The template tells them about it and includes the model cancellation form, which you should give clients before they book.

Which file should I download?

The Word (.docx) file is editable in Word, Pages and Google Docs. If you just want a copy to send, use "Print or save as PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" in the print window.
